Time To Change Student Victimization in Ghana

Times do change says one poet. When i received the admission form from the FEDEX company, i thought i was on my way to the best university education ever in this country. Little did i know that, i was rather in a school where the rights of students have been thrown to the dogs by the authorities.

Students are constantly being slapped in the face with obnoxious policies and stinking exploitation and flagrant dissipation and siphoning of our SRC dues.

My worry as a writer is that, we the students are constantly being intimidated and cowed into silence, hence, painting a gloomy picture for our dear and infant but old country Ghana in the near future.

The school authorities have resorted to individual victimization of persons who disagrees with their inhumane and dehumanizing actions and inactions. The Dean of Students is a demigod protecting uselessly the interest of the National Democratic Congress party in the school of higher learning.

His desire to see the interest of his government protected has pushed him to deprive students of our rights to demonstrations inter alia.

The actions of our school authorities is a habinger of doom for our country. Ghana will have to grapple with coward leaders like our current leadership of our country who but serve their parochial interest and their individual stomachs.

We must call the bluff of the school authorities not only on University of Ghana, campus but on the other university campuses.

Enough is enough. We are tired of this denigrading environment and atmosphere. I believe that, we have gotten to an era of revolution and it is either an end with horror or an end without a horror.

The choice fellow Students, in this third world country is yours.
