NDC MEDIA ANALYST GROUP IS A JOKE!

Article by Austin Brako-Powers (University of Ghana, Legon)

For quiet sometime now Ghana has witnessed the sporadic formation of groups with farfetched names. Mention could be made of the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), Committee for Joint Action (CJA), and the recent Media Analyst group of the ruling NDC government among others.

Though some look genuine and focused with regards to their mission, others like the Media Analyst group of NDC and the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) of the opposition NPP seem to be mere jokers and kidding with the conscience of Ghanaians.

In the recent past, the Media Analyst group of the NDC issued a statement alleging that, the New Patriotic Party Flag bearer for the 2012 elections, Nana Akuffo-Addo takes cocaine and about the fact that, the drunk-driving two months ago of his daughter proves that, he cannot govern the country.

Though, Nana Akuffo-Addo like Prof. Asenso former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Legon must be held accountable for the actions and inactions of their children. I personally think the daughter of Akuffo-Addo is old enough to shoulder her own “persecution” from the Ghanaian public.

Alfred Triddles the Coordinator for the NDC Media Analyst group on Friday October 8, 2010, during Dr. Kan’s program on Happy Fm 98.9 said trivially that, their motivation for the barrage of allegation against Akuffo-Addo was because, he Nana called Mills, “Professor do little”. My word! What is happening in the country?

This is an incumbent group which is supposed to point to Mills the wrongs in the system; the mass corruption of some ministers; the mass poverty in the country; the late arrival of the students’ loan which has caused over 550 University of Ghana students’ to defer their course of program, and again serve as a pointer to the failure of the Mills government. What do we see them do?

At best, the actions of the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) and that of the NDC Media Analyst group is that of a “frustrated cockroach” filled with desperation.

This is why the time has come for Ghanaians to rethink an alternative party to handle and undo the “mudslinging politics” of the NPP and the NDC parties. In all this mudslinging politics, the voice of argument of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has been that of hope and confidence and not desperation of the NPP and the NDC.

This is a clarion call on the leadership of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) to make the party appealing to the youth and the entire Ghanaian citizenry.

This must commenced the rebranding of the CPP and it must start now.
