Horrible as it may seem, after the infamous Press Conference held by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the flagrant display of arrogance by the party’s Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Agyei, a man I respected, I had no better option than to say that, the man deserves to be prosecuted.
My word!! The Judiciary must be purge or else they will do that. Gush! Who are the “they”?
Of course the NDC, I suppose.
Sometimes one is left to wonder whether “rule of law” works in Ghana as seen laced beautifully in our national constitution.
Lest I forget, Mills is also a fan of the empty word, “rule of law”.
For God knows how long, our national leaders lack the forcefulness of words in implementing clichés like; accountability and probity, rule of law, zero tolerance to corruption, and trustworthy etc.
Personally, I think Politics, the balancing of competing claims and limited resources, the art of the possible, of compromise and consensus, has been fatally distorted by our leaders who use God’s name egregiously to deceive the dying poor folks in our villages and urban areas.
Ghana surprisingly, has seen an awakening consciousness in public life of the importance of religion, faith, and belief and this has provided an opportunity for crimes to be committed with impunity.
Our national leaders like some world leaders have cloaked themselves with religion and at the slight drought, flood, hunger, disaster, thirst, and death, they cry out, “let us pray for our soul”.
This is tantamount to Tony Blair one of the elderly world politicians who had to use religion to explain why he got involved in the near fiasco “war for democracy” in Iraq.
If the NDC party functionaries believe they can hide behind the calm spirit of Mills and perpetuate hideous activities in the country, come 2012, the people of Ghana will show them who truly possessed the power in the country.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is still learning their lesson of who calls the shot in the country and they well deserved it.
If Ato Kwamena Dadzie was invited for interrogation for allegedly causing public panic then Dr. Kwabena Agyei deserves to be interrogated and prosecuted for staging a “coup d’état” in the country.
This is not new of the NDC as a party, reminiscing the infamous killing of the four Supreme Court Judges during the Rawlings-led-NDC-administration.
However, we are with bated breath. Should anything happen to anyone of the Judges, the blame will be neatly tucked to the door steps of the ruling NDC government.
Mills must heed the call to bring his men to order for the supreme preservation of the unity he talked of in his inaugural speech.
